Notice on Adjusting the Visa Policy for Foreigners Traveling to China(2022.06)

According to relevant arrangements, starting from June 22, 2022, Chinese Embassy in Georgia will adjust the visa application requirements for China. Applicants are requested to read the following content carefully, confirm their applicable visa categories and prepare application materials as required.

I. Application Process

1. Preliminary check of the application materials

Send visa application materials to the embassy's special e-mail address for visa application preview (consulate.ingeorgia@gmail.com). 

    1) Email Subject: "Applicant's name and surname, visa type, nationality"

    2) Materials: Upload the necessary application materials in the form of scanned images (see " II." for details on required documents for visa application).

    3) Wait for a reply: For emails that meet the conditions, the consular staff of the embassy will reply in time to notify the result of the preview.

2. Fill out the visa application form

After passing the preliminary check, the applicant should fill out the online visa application form.

    1) Fill out the visa application form (https://cova.cs.mfa.gov.cn), print the Confirmation of Online Visa Application and the Visa Application Form and sign where necessary. 

    2) Send the Confirmation of Online Visa Application to consulate.ingeorgia@gmail.com to make an appointment and submit the documents to the consular section of the embassy to apply for a visa at the appointed time.

3. Submit the materials in person

On the date of the appointment, the applicant should bring the visa application form and all the relevant application materials to the consular section of the embassy, submit in person and should have their ten fingers’ fingerprints collected. Individuals exempted from collecting fingerprints can entrust others to submit the application materials.

Individuals who may be exempted from the collection of fingerprints:

    1) Children under the age of 14 and adults above the age of 70;

    2) Individuals who meet the conditions for Chinese diplomatic, service and courtesy visas;

    3) Individuals who applied for a Chinese visa with the same passport and whose fingerprints were collected within the last 5 years at the same embassy;

    4) Individuals with restrictions in the finger area or people whose 10 fingerprints can’t be collected for other reasons.

II. Scope of Accepted Visa Application and Required Materials

1. Basic documents for visa application: The printed Chinese Visa Application Form; the applicant’s passport (original) and a copy of the main page; the applicant’s legal residence permit in Georgia, the applicant’s entry visa to Georgia and entry and exit records (only for third-country citizens); the applicant’s COVID-19 vaccination certificate (Chinese vaccines, WHO-approved vaccines or WHO-approved vaccines for emergency use).

Visits related to economic, trade, science and technology purposes, etc.

"Invitation Letter (PU/TE)" or a "Verification Confirmation of Invitation" issued by central and state departments, central government owned enterprises, the foreign affairs offices of provincial governments or the provincial departments of commerce, or the foreign affairs offices of municipal governments.   

Z-Visa

Employment in China.

Valid "Notification Letter of Foreigner’s Work Permit" (or "Foreigner’s Work Permit"), etc.

S1-Visa

(long-term)

Family member of Z visa/work residence permit holder (long-term, for more than 180 days)

Family members refer to: spouse, parents, child under the age of 18, parents of spouse

1. Proof of kinship between the applicant and inviter (such as marriage certificate, birth certificate, certificate issued by police or judicial department, etc.) ;

2. An invitation letter from a foreign national who stays or resides in China holding a Z visa or related residence permit (see attachment for a template);

3. Copy of the inviter's passport, Z visa or a work residence permit.

S2-Visa

(short-term

Family member of Z/F/M visa/work residence permit holder (short-term, no more than 180 days)

Family members refer to: spouse, parents, child under the age of 18, parents of spouse, Adult children and their spouses who really need to go to China

1. Proof of kinship between the applicant and inviter (such as marriage certificate, birth certificate, certificate issued by police or judicial department, etc.) ;

2. An invitation letter from a foreign national who stays or resides in China holding a Z visa or related residence permit (see attachment for a template);

3. Copy of the inviter's passport, valid Z/F/M visa or a work residence permit.

*Adult child and spouse of adult child applying for family member visit (S2) visa shall submit explanation documents accordingly as required by consular officials in addition to the documents mentioned above.

Q1-Visa (Family Reunion)

Q2-Visa (Visiting Relatives)

1. Foreign family member of a Chinese citizen; 

2. Foreign family member of a foreign national with Chinese permanent residence permit.

 (Q1 - long-term, for more than 180 days)

 (Q2 - short-term, no more than 180 days)

*Family members refer to: spouse, parent, parent-in-law, child, spouse of child, brother or sister, grandparent, grandchild.

1. Proof of family member kinship between the applicant and inviter (marriage certificate, birth certificate, certification of kinship issued by police or judicial department, etc.);

2. An invitation letter from a Chinese citizen or a foreign citizen holding a Chinese permanent residence permit residing in China (see attachment for a template); 

3. Proof of Chinese identity from the inviter (such as Chinese identity card, Chinese household registration), or foreign passport and Chinese permanent residence permit.

R-Visa

 high-level talents

Valid "Confirmation Letter of High-Level Foreign Talents"

*The applicant's spouse and minor child under age of 18 shall apply for the S2 visa by submitting proof of kinship (such as marriage certificate, birth certificate).

C-Visa

 crew members

A letter of guarantee issued by a foreign transport company or an invitation letter issued by a relevant entity in China

To apply for the emergency humanitarian visa for the purpose of arranging funeral matters or visiting a family member in critical medical conditions in China, applicants shall submit the identity document of the deceased or critically ill patient (such as a foreign passport etc.), a death certificate or a medical certificate of the patient issued by the hospital, proof of kinship, and other necessary documents as required. The Q2 visa will be issued after passing the review of the materials.

If you need to apply for a diplomatic, service or courtesy visa, please consult directly through the visa preview email, and the consular staff will contact you to discuss the visa application.

Applications for visas intended to come to China for tourism, medical treatment and other personal affairs are not accepted for the time being.
